1. INITIAL CONSULTATION The first step before making any decision concerning Personal Property begins with an initial consultation. At that time, we will meet with you or your client in order to assess specific needs, goals and develop strategies for meeting them. An initial consultation fee may be charged based upon the time and/or degree of involvement.
2. THE INSPECTION
If the property to be evaluated is limited to a few items, the consultation and the appraisal may often be accomplished on the first visit. Selected items may be photographed and will be physically described. The client can save time and money by having any previous appraisals, invoices, insurance records, or written records concerning provenance, etc. available at this time.
3. THE APPRAISAL REPORT
After the research has been completed, a printed report will be prepared. The report will include the location and a physical description of each item or group of items with accompanying photographs when indicated, along with a listing of fair market value or a replacement value depending on the purpose of the appraisal.
4. FEES FOR SERVICE
The fee is based on an hourly rate which may include travel, time on site, research and any other expenses which may be incurred. Please note that the fee assigned is not based upon a percentage of the value of the subject property and is independent of the value of any items being appraised.
5. RELEASE OF REPORT Once the report has been prepared, we will promptly contact the client. A meeting time may be arranged and the report findings presented to the client. Payment is due upon receipt of the appraisal report. If the appraisal report is sent by mail, we will contact the client regarding the fee. Upon receipt of the fee, the appraisal report and any requested copies will be mailed to the client.
